There are also new powers, including a deadly bulldozing dash attack a la Mega Man X. Many power-ups are lifted from other SNES games, but who cares? The only really cheesy element is that instead of all-new weapons for every situation, some weapons are just enhanced versions of familiar items that really don't add much to the game like the Super Missiles and the Super Bombs.

The techniques and maneuverability of the Samus character are pretty much old hat, which means precise controls but a somewhat floaty, out-of-control feeling when you jump. That's okay, though, as all the controller buttons are used to move Samus and aim her weapons. Tighter maneuvers in the air, a less awkward way to aim diagonally, a way to use her regular gun and optional weapons simultaneously, and a less frustrating wall spring would have tightened up the action.

Visually, SM sets a wonderfully appropriate and dark mood -- no pastel colors or painting plumbers here. However, the closer you look at the backgrounds, the more they look eight-bit rather than bit.

Not only that, the pix get reused mucho. That's okay, though; it's better to have the 24 megs invested in game play. The soundtrack is also fairly somber and subdued, yet really cool at the same time. The music could have had more orchestral flair, but it doesn't grate at all and really complements the theme.

The sounds are also great, and there's even some corny memory-wasting voice at the start of the game. Super Metroid really delivers what Nintendo has always promised -- deep, involving game play that'll occupy you for dozens of hours. There's certainly more Metroid territory to be explored, like controller-motion techniques or a wider variety of graphics, but heck, Nintendo isn't working on Project Reality for nothing.

You better grab this one before a Metroid latches onto you! The story involves Samus Aran getting infected with the 'X Parasite', a mysterious species that kills everything in it's path and replicates the creatures it takes over.

You're saved by a vaccine made from the remains of the baby metroid in Super Metroid, letting you absorb X Parasites without harm, but making you extremely weak to cold like metroids are. You are then sent aboard the BSL research station where you find X Parasites, as well as an unexpected enemy. Because you're inherrantly weaker than other metroid games, there's a sense of fear as you navigate the corridors of the BSL station, trying not to get killed.

The game boasts fantastic graphics and creepy tunes. While more linear than previous Metroid games, lots of unexpected things happen that require you to make your own path through the research station. This game was always one of my favorite GBA games and is a wonderful, terrifying and challenging experience. An amazing game. The game has you exploring every nook and cranny trying to save the day, find powerups and figure out where to go next.

It is best described as classic Metroid action! The controls work great. I actually really liked how to use your missiles you had to hold R and B instead of just selecting them and then shooting them with the B button. I have played through Metroid Fusion multiple times and it never gets old.

It is one of these games that I play through every couple of years. You could argue that there is no replay value here, but to be fair this is a game from and having extra content was not really a thought back then. This is a fantastic looking game. I always thought that Super Metroid on the SNES had great graphics, sound, and atmosphere, but this one here kicks it all up several notches.

My only little criticism is that some of the enemy designs do look kind of weird and funky, but hey they are parasites so I guess it is ok? No matter if you are playing this on a Game Boy Advance SP not the original with no backlight or on a larger screen like a monitor or a TV, you will be amazed at how great this game looks for an early GBA title.

It is a truly incredible Metroid game and one of the best games for the handheld. It fits in perfectly well with the other 2D Metroid games and I would actually go as far as to say that this is a must-play game!

This game was always one of my favorite GBA games and is a wonderful, terrifying and challenging experience. An amazing game. Sure it is a bit short and it tells you everything you have to do, but there are many hidden items that are hard to find and harder to get.

To really beat this game, you must beat it with all the items in under 6 and a half hours. This gives you a harder and better ending. Which is challenging to most players. The good thing about the co iving you orders is that it is very clear where you have to go but it provides challenges on how to get there, and if you arent careful, the first few times you will need to watch carefully to beat the bosses as some like the spider can take out three life bars in one hit, and will continuously hit you if you don't know how to evade it.
